Experience
In my years at the University of Tampa, I actively sought out additional activities to increase my understanding of my major in Marketing. Immediately, I was drawn to the American Marketing Association, specifically the Spartan Agency that runs within it. The American Marketing Association (AMA) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the marketing field. It provides resources, networking opportunities, and education to help students and professionals stay current with industry trends, best practices, and innovative strategies.
Once I joined AMA, I was immediately drawn to the Spartan Agency, the student-run marketing association that works within AMA. I am a part of the agency’s email marketing team. Here, we have weekly responsibilities to collaborate with the other agency departments to send out data-driven, cultivating email campaigns for our clients. In the Fall of 2024, moving into the beginning of 2025, we worked with the Tampa Bay Open, a golf outing supporting The Wounded Warriors Project, and the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. In this experience, I have taken the digital marketing tools I have learned in the class and my skills from Hubspot certifications to create campaigns assisting the Tampa Bay Open in gaining players and sponsorships that will go towards the non-profits the event supports. Throughout this experience, I gained hands-on experience with a real client and strengthened my collaboration and communication skills.
At the Straz Center in Tampa, I work as a Barback, supporting the bartenders and ensuring smooth service during performances and events. My role involves maintaining a well-stocked and organized bar by replenishing supplies, preparing garnishes, and assisting with cleaning duties. I help manage inventory and quickly address any issues that arise, ensuring the bar runs efficiently even during busy times. This position has allowed me to develop my teamwork, communication, and time management skills, all while contributing to a positive customer experience in a fast-paced environment.
At Mindray North America, I worked in their warehouse, where I supported logistics and inventory management. My responsibilities included organizing and tracking medical equipment and supplies, preparing items for shipment, and ensuring accurate inventory records. This role required attention to detail and efficient time management to keep the warehouse organized and operations running smoothly. Working in this fast-paced environment helped me strengthen my organizational skills and gave me valuable insight into the logistics process.
At Whole Foods, I simultaneously took on multiple roles as a cashier, cashier’s assistant, and Prime shopper. I adapted quickly to different responsibilities during each shift, from providing excellent customer service at checkout to assisting with bagging and organizing items. As a Prime shopper, I carefully selected and packed online orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency for a seamless customer experience. Balancing these roles taught me how to multitask effectively, prioritize tasks in a busy environment, and remain flexible to meet the store’s needs.
